Today (or for the next two hours, anyway) is Maurice Sendak's 81st birthday. It's amazing to me that there isn't anything going on today for it, at least online. No one except Ward Jenkins has even mentioned it! Today was a lazy day, and I slept a lot, but before I go watch Jurassic Park with Jane I thought I'd share some pictures from our recent trip to Florida, in honor of Mr. Sendak's birthday.
This is my brother David and I, as Max and Moishe at a convention we went to. Our costumes were a present from our aunt Ana, and our mom. They worked so hard on it, I was totally surprised!
After the convention, we all went back to West Palm, and my cousin Luis (Ana's son) talked about how if HE was Max, it would be more size appropriate and so his mom whipped him up his own wolf suit in a few hours, and with Jane's help we had a little photoshoot, which was one of the best parts of my birthday party.
BONUS: I've also subscribed to this wonderful new blog, Terrible Yellow Eyes. It's an awesome tribute to Where The Wild Things Are, with known and unknown artists alike doing heartfelt renditions and tribute illustrations.
Here are some of my favorites:
This one's my favorite one so far. But it's hard to pick just one, they're all good! There's tons more on the site, check them out!
EXTRA BONUS: If you didn't see this before, my good friend Mallory drew this for me. I'll include it because it's very Where The Wild Things Are, except instead of Max, it's Mals. Where The Mexibears Are?
