Posting on a SATURDAY?!
What a LAME, huh?
Well, let's see. The town I live in is boring, basically all of my friends are busy today, and Jane is with half of my friends at a girly Princess House party. WIN.
or FAIL.
Anyway, speaking of Jane, she gave me one of her Moleskines to sketch in, and here are some examples.

the cover.
As you can tell from the cover, I started drawing in this when I first started playing Rocket Slime on my DS, and I was a little obsessed.

The suckiness of the above drawing soon doused my obsession.

It IS my favorite sweater, my Blue's Clues Steve sweater.

I have no idea. I didn't even like the Swarm when they were around in the late 90s. This is just what I saw when I closed my eyes.

This was supposed to be an exercise in line control, then marker control, and when I failed at that, it was supposed to be me eating a poptart and then when THAT failed, it became bigfoot eating a poptart. Same thing though.

This was an exercise as well, in drawing a blob shape with sharpies and then doing an offset, mid-century, Monsters Inc.-concept art black line shifted to the side type thing. This one was only a KINDA FAIL.

Not even my favorite imaginary friend, just the easiest to draw from memory. Apparently he's high?

Another exercise. I don't get it either.
The next couple of ones need an explanation. So, I went to the Portland Zine Symposium last year with Jane, and met a really cool kid named Noah Dorsey. I bought his zine
"I can't wait to be me again" which is basically about life, obsession, and Dr. Mario.

I recently picked it back up again, and loved it, again. So, reading this, it inspired me to try to draw the good Dr. from memory, and this happened

and then, I was listening to Panda Bear's "Take Pills" a lot, and all these things together made this happen.

I like it, except the shading on his nose.
Also, Noah is working on an actual good old fashioned HAND DRAWN animated film, Nathan & Nordrich, with only his girlfriend's help, as we speak. Seriously impressive.
Trailer.
And here's a behind the scenes thing.
I can't wait to see it. It reminds me a lot of The Point!, and not just because of the Harry Nilsson song, but because the animation, and, according to Noah, The Point! film was also basically animated by two people. If he had a premiere in Portland I'd actually fly out there for it, that's how much I like it. Well, plus, it's Portland. If someone offered me a free hamburger in Portland I'd fly out there for it, it's PORTLAND.
And speaking of hamburgers, you know fat guys have to sketch about food, so here's a parting shot.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!
